Roofing, Siding & Remodeling in Flower Mound, TX
Flower Mound grew fast. The town had about 15,500 residents in 1990 and more than 50,000 by 2000, and housing data shows roughly four in ten homes here were built in the 1990s. Many of those houses in Bridlewood, Wellington and the neighborhoods off FM 1171 are now 25 to 35 years old. That's the age when shingles, flashing, attic ventilation, siding and dated kitchens all start asking for attention, often at the same time.
Culture Construction & Consulting is a veteran-owned roofing, siding and remodeling company serving Dallas–Fort Worth from our DFW office at 4501 Merlot Ave, Suite 200, Grapevine, TX 76051. We work on Flower Mound homes in ZIP codes 75022 and 75028, from the Grapevine Lake side of town up to Canyon Falls.

What matters for roofs in Flower Mound
Housing age. According to ACS estimates, about 40% of Flower Mound homes were built in the 1990s, another 15% in the 1980s, and most of the rest after 2000. On an older home we don't just look at the shingles. We check the decking for soft spots, the flashing at walls and chimneys, and whether attic ventilation suits North Texas summers.
Mature trees. Older neighborhoods near Grapevine Lake and Marshall Creek have established tree canopy. That means leaves in the valleys, clogged gutters, and limbs over the roof in high wind. We include gutter condition and overhanging branches in every inspection.
Hail. Hail is a recurring risk in Flower Mound (see the storm history below). If you're replacing a roof anyway, ask us about impact-resistant shingles. The Texas Department of Insurance notes that some insurers give discounts for roofs built with wind- or hail-resistant materials. Ask your own carrier what it offers.
Home values. The median Flower Mound home is valued at about $560,200 (ACS 2024 5-year). Roofing and siding shape how a house shows at resale, so color, profile and trim details matter.
Permits, HOAs and design review in Flower Mound
Town permits. The Town of Flower Mound's Building Inspections division handles residential permits, and contractors register with the town each year. Permit requirements change, so before a roof, siding or remodeling project starts, check the town's Residential Permit Guidelines or ask Building Inspections. If a permit is required, it has to be in place before work starts, and we'll walk you through that step.
HOAs. Many Flower Mound homes are in planned subdivisions such as the Bridlewood sections, Wellington and Canyon Falls. If yours has an HOA or architectural committee, plan for that approval before work begins. We can give you shingle and siding samples and spec sheets to submit with your request.
Texas law on impact-resistant shingles. Texas Property Code §202.011 limits an HOA's ability to prohibit shingles designed to be wind and hail resistant, more energy efficient, or solar-generating. The shingles must still resemble the ones allowed in your subdivision, be equal or better in quality, and match the look of the surrounding homes. Choosing the right product is usually what gets the request approved.
Historic review. We didn't find any local historic district rules for private homes in Flower Mound. The town formed a Historical Commission in 2024, but it doesn't review homeowners' roof or siding choices.
Recent storm history
Hail isn't hypothetical here. In the last five years:
- April 28, 2021: 1.5-inch hail was reported near Wellington Elementary, according to NOAA Storm Prediction Center reports.
- May 19, 2023: emergency management reported dime- to quarter-size hail in Flower Mound.
- June 11, 2023: a trained spotter reported quarter- to tennis-ball-size hail in Flower Mound. Hail up to 3.5 inches was reported in nearby Bartonville and Highland Village the same evening. The town reported damaged traffic signals at FM 1171 and Shiloh Road.
- 2024–2026: quarter-size and larger hail has been reported repeatedly within about 10 miles, in Grapevine, Southlake, Highland Village, Lewisville and Keller.
Hail damage isn't always visible from the driveway. After a storm, an inspection gives you a dated, photo-documented record of your roof's condition. It's useful whether or not you file a claim.

Flower Mound roofing FAQ
How often do you replace a roof in Texas? There's no single number. It depends on material, attic ventilation and how many hail and wind events the roof has taken. In Flower Mound, the bigger question for a 1990s home is usually condition, not age alone. Have the roof inspected after any notable hail event and every few years otherwise, and replace it when the inspection shows it's needed.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Flower Mound? Check with the Town of Flower Mound Building Inspections division or the town's Residential Permit Guidelines before work starts, because the requirements depend on the scope of work. Small repairs are often treated differently from a full replacement. If your project needs a permit, we'll walk you through it before work begins.
Can my HOA stop me from installing impact-resistant shingles? Under Texas Property Code §202.011, an HOA generally can't prohibit shingles designed to resist wind and hail, as long as they resemble the shingles allowed in your subdivision, are equal or better in quality, and match the surrounding homes. Your HOA's approval process still applies, so submit the product specs with your request.
Will impact-resistant shingles lower my insurance, and will insurance replace the whole roof? The Texas Department of Insurance says some insurers give discounts for wind- or hail-resistant roofs. It also warns that a company might not pay to replace the entire roof, and that many policies reduce coverage based on roof age and material. Coverage decisions belong to your insurer. We can inspect, document the damage and meet your adjuster if you'd like.
